Asheville Food Hardship

Asheville NC actually ranks Third in the United States in food hardship. At least, according to a recent study. The problem has only gotten worse as time has gone on. About 24% of people are having a hard time (in Asheville NC) getting enough food to fill the table.

The only two counties that were having a harder time supplying food were Bakersfield and Fresno California. (100 large areas were surveyed). This has gotten even worse from last year where Asheville was the 7th hardest place (which was by no means ever any good).

The MANNA Food Bank is having a terrible time getting enough support to help feed all these people. They will refuse to sit back and let this happen to Asheville, but they need all the support they can get to help them. They have also released a statistic that shows 29.9% of young adults and children under the age of 18 are "food insecure" in Western North Carolina.

Asheville's US Postal Service Closing Processing Facility

Unfortunately the United States Postal Service's processing facility that is located in Asheville NC will be closing. The jobs will probably be moving over to Greenville NC where they could gain 183 new jobs from the facility!

However, Asheville was heavily protesting the move of the postal service. There were several local rallies.

You can read more about the new center at Google+ Post over here: Asheville's New Camping World SuperCenter That's the full news.

Now, for the Jobs part. If you are interested in applying for a job at the new center, you should do so right away! It was only just announced, and there is still a big opportunity window. Go over to their site and fill out the application form here: http://campingworld.submit4jobs.com/

Florida Businessmen Purchase Two Memorable Asheville Buildings

The former S&W Cafeteria and the Windsor Hotel have both been sold to a Miami Beach gynecologist who, with his partners, are planning to do some big business in Asheville. The S&W Building alone has been sold for almost 2.5 Million Dollars (in 2007 it was worth 2.45). Back in 2007 the old Windsor Hotel was worth almost just as much, $2.3K.

The Buncombe County Deeds registry office has confirmed that these iconic and popular Asheville buildings have been purchased. The partners that are located in North Carolina have been unable to be contacted at this moment. It is unclear what is going to happen to these well loved buildings. Whatever happens, we can predict that it will be lucrative for the investors.

Previous investments and business ventures by the same people have been in Colorado and Florida and consisted of expensive ventures as well. Condominiums, Private Planes and Air Transportation methods, Yacht and expensive boat sales are a few of the lavish things they have invested in.

Hopefully any restoration and future plans for these buildings will bring with them extra jobs for Asheville citizens.

But what we can tell quite easily from these purchases, is that businessmen have faith in Asheville NC's economy. Businessmen, especially well established and experienced ones such as these, do not simply invest this much money into something they don't think has potential.

This can only mean good. The future is still bright for an economic turn up which will bring more jobs and opportunities for people looking for Asheville Jobs.
